Interview with MC Abbas
On a lovely Saturday evening, 11th of July at 6pm, we had Dr. Syed Asad Abbas, Famous anchor and TV personality, join Mr. Arvind, CEO of team.i on our Instagram live series Expert Speak on the changing landscape…a plethora of opportunities.
Tell us about yourself
Mr. Abbas finds his journey so far, as he says in his own words, “quite an interesting one”. His love for speaking on stage in front of the audience started when he was in school. “. I used to be a headboy in school, and did a lot of stage performance such as debates and anchoring. Teachers back then used to tell me “You would either be a neta or an abhineta”. Interestingly, right now I am both”.
After doing his college graduation from Jain University in journalism and Masters from Christ University in Media studies, he started off at Big Bazaar as a sales announcer 10 years back. “I used to get paid 800 bucks for these announcements. I used to love doing that, even though it sounds quite banal. It used to give me a kick”.
His entire idea was to create a brand of himself and market it well amongst the strong network he built. “Thus I feel your branding and marketing is very important. Whatever I am today is because of the way I have branded myself amongst my network”.
Write now, he’s writing a book of his own about his journey which is titled as “From auto to Audi ”. “From debating on stage at school to debating with Arnab Goswami on live TV, it’s been quite a journey”.
How has the lockdown period been?
“It’s been quite a fantastic journey so far. I was completely cut off from the world. Apart from featuring on primetime news hour debates, I read a lot during this period. In these 100 days I have red over 30 books”.
